Society of Historians of Scandinavia

The Society of Historians of Scandinavia (SHS) is an historians' interest group in the Society for the Advancement of Scandinavian Study (SASS). Like the SHS, this website is currently in the initial stages of development. It will eventually contain such things as information about activities of interest to historians, sessions at the annual SASS conference dealing with historical topics, and an electronic version of the Society's newsletter, as well as links to other websites related to Scandinavian history.

Membership: Membership in SHS is open to all persons who have formally expressed an interest in the purposes of the Society, and who have paid the annual dues of $15.00 ($10.00 for students or retired members). SHS is intended to be a community of historians and lay people dedicated to the research and dissemination of historical knowledge of, and about, the people and cultures of Scandinavia, the Baltic region, and Scandinavians abroad.

Cooperation: SHS is initially established as an historians' interest group in SASS with the aim of supporting the interdisciplinary approach of SASS and to advance and make better known the study of the history of Scandinavia, the Baltic region, and Scandinavians abroad. SHS seeks to cooperate with scholars and institutions with similar interests in North America, Scandinavia, and the rest of the world.
